Listen, Learn & Teach

High school students in Safe Horizon's Safe Harbor programs took to the stage to teach middle school students about violence and abuse at Listen, Learn & Teach…A Day Against Violence, an arts and education event on Friday, October 13th.

The event was the culmination of a year-long collaboration between Safe Horizon and corporate volunteers from Limited Design Services, a support business of Limited Brands, Inc., who have facilitated regular meetings between students and adults, and served as role-models and mentors throughout the planning process.

The t-shirts that were featured at the event were designed by Safe Harbor students during a four-day working session with employee volunteers at Limited Design Services offices. To see pictures of the design process, the finished t-shirts or the entire event, view the slideshows below:

Listen, Learn & Teach aimed to empower students to prevent violence and stop abuse by promoting safety and creating awareness in our communities. High school students in Safe Horizon Safe Harbor programs across the city presented poetry, stories, skits and a fashion show to entertain and educate middle school students from the Hostos-Lincoln Academy of Science, where Safe Horizon also operates a Safe Harbor program.
